The Maldives' Only Year-Round Cleaning Station
In the northern channel of Maa Kandu, at a depth of around 17 to 20 metres, lies a cleaning station that sets Addu Atoll apart from every other diving region in the Maldives: this is the only manta cleaning station in the country with reliable reef manta sightings all twelve months of the year.
Most manta hotspots in the Maldives are seasonal, tied to monsoon shifts that bring plankton-rich water through on a schedule. Maa Kandu doesn't follow that calendar. As the incoming current sweeps across the channel — typically strongest in the morning — reef mantas glide in to be cleaned by resident wrasse, often staying in position long enough for divers to simply stop on the reef and watch.
Why it's different from other Maldives manta sites
Elsewhere in the archipelago, you plan your trip around manta season. At Maa Kandu, the mantas are essentially always an option — which means we can build a manta dive into your schedule on short notice, weather and current permitting, rather than asking you to gamble on a single season.
